HalalFinance ("we", "our", "the app") is a mobile application developed by Pragmabits that helps Muslims calculate Zakat and Khums obligations and browse Sharia-compliant investment assets. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

HalalFinance does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
• Account credentials or login information
• Financial account numbers or bank details
• Location data
• Advertising identifiers

The app does not require user registration or sign-in.

2. Data Stored on Your Device

All financial data you enter (asset values, income, expenses) is stored exclusively on your device in an encrypted local database. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party.

The app also stores your preferences locally:

• Religious school of thought (Madhab)
• Preferred currency
• Nisab standard preference (gold or silver)
• Khums year start date

3. Network Requests

The app makes the following network requests to function properly:

• Gold & silver prices — The app fetches live metal prices to calculate Nisab thresholds. Only the currency code is sent in the request. No personal or financial data is transmitted.
• Halal asset screening — The app retrieves lists of Sharia-compliant stocks and ETFs from a screening service. No personal or financial data is transmitted.

4. Analytics & Crash Reporting

The app may collect anonymous crash reports to help us improve stability. Crash reports contain only:

• Stack trace (technical error information)
• Device model and OS version
• App version

Crash reports never include your financial data, calculation history, or any personally identifiable information. Analytics can be disabled by revoking internet permission at the OS level.

5. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

• Gold-API (gold-api.com) — for metal price data
• Halal Terminal API — for Sharia compliance screening data
• Firebase Crashlytics — for anonymous crash reporting

These services have their own privacy policies. No personal or financial user data is shared with them.

6. Data Security

All financial data stored on your device is encrypted using industry-standard encryption (SQLCipher). Encryption keys are stored in the platform's hardware-backed secure keystore (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain). API credentials are also stored securely and never exposed.

7. Children's Privacy

HalalFinance is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

8. Your Rights

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can delete all app data by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
